Where is the governer on my golfcart?
i have a Yamaha golf cart with a j-55 something serial number.. i really need to know where the governor is.. help!
Yamaha's and most other gas golf carts use a constantly variable transmission (CVT), the speed governing is done from the rear end where the speed (revolutions of the drive axle) can be sensed.
The governor is on top of the rear end, under the black plastic cover in the bag area. There is a 10mm nut on a long bolt coming off the carburetor, turning it clockwise increases speed.

Valve adjustment for a G2 1989 yamaha four cycle golf cart engine, and I need to know the spark plug gap
. I don't have a service manual

but mostly I need to know the valve adjustment. I set it at 10MM and it runs bur not exactly right,
Suggestion. Check in the yellow pages under the..Golf..listing and see if there is a golf cart company selling new/used golf carts, and give them a call. These are the "pros" and have skilled mechanics working on golf carts, just like an automobile dealer has in his service department. And, if not available...check out a golf course, maybe even go by and ask if you could speak to someone that's in charge of the cart barn. There might be someone there that can help....or direct you to someone who can. Couple of phone calls might be your answer.
