VW Bus questions?
Right, well I'm looking into buying a '68 bus. Its got some surface rust, but the interior is beautiful (except the floor). They want $3700, so is that reasonable? It could use a new paint job too, but its not too afully bad. It also needs: window cranks, 1 hub cap, door seals (probably), rust repair, new paint job, small holes fixed (were drilled into the driver's side door by someone to put a padlock on it...yeah), new flooring, new sink (the original one is missing), some trim, and a new plastic cover to go under the dash where the wiring is.
And how much can I expect to pay to register it, etc?

Ouch.... Ummm well I have a friend who just sold his bus for 7,000 and it was nicely restored. I recommend that you look around on ebay and on www.thesamba.com for something else. as bad as that bus sounds, I can't imagine what the engine is like. VW engines are very much a reflection of the car itself. If the car has lots of bugs, so will the engine as it's a sign that the driver didn't care. As volkwagen engines are air cooled and not water cooled, the oil gets dirtier quicker. Someone who is lax on everything else on the car, probably did little in the line of engine maintenance. Look elsewhere. You can get a much nicer bus for that price.
Also keep in mind that nobody works on old VW's anymore (as far as mechanics services). The parts are hard to find. You usually have to mail order them - and most old volkswagen drivers I know, know a thing or two about VW maintenance. You have to. Aftermarket parts they make these days just don't last. So you wind up doing most of the mechanical work yourself, sometimes on the side of the road with a plastic spork from McDonald's for a screw driver. If you don't like doing mechanical work, I really don't recommend getting anything that isn't in great condition.
Restore faded plastic trims and remove mildow. Detailing blackout of cowl, handles, bumpers, etc..

Wood Blinds
You can find wood blinds in almost any price range. The lower priced wood blinds are composed of Oriental hardwood, while the quality blinds are made of basswood or another American hardwood.
If you have stained wood trim or cabinets then you may want to consider wood blinds in a shade that will match your stain color. This will bring the whole decor of the room together and make it look warm and inviting. The downside of wood blinds is that they are more expensive than other blinds and they are prone to warping and fading. Keep these things in mind if you are interested in purchasing wood blinds.
