will a 1994 S10 4.3 motor fit in a 1996 blazer. the blazer has a vortec 4.3 it is automatic and is the S10.?
the blazer says 4.3 vortec and the S10 does not say vortec on valve covers that I can see. blazer is auto. 4x4. S10 is a 2 wheel drive auto. thanks in advance. clay.
The simple answer is yes it will fit, however you are talking about 2 different engines. The 1994 4.3 is a throttle body engine that did not have a lot of the electronics in it that a 1996 motor has. Chevrolet redesigned the 4.3 in 1996 and made it a completely fuel injected vehicle, and continued that same model until 1999, when Chevrolet redesigned it for the last time.
In order to change the engine out you will need a completely different wire harness, computer and 1 or 2 additional O2 sensors. I know this because I did the same thing to my 1992 S-10, except my new motor was a 1999, not a 1996.
