I was a cowgirl when I was a girl. I carried my six-shooters and my leather holster and wore my cowboy hat and boots and skirt. I can't imagine being seven without being a cowgirl. There was a song: “Single Saddle” sung by Vaughan Monroe, I think. I taught myself to play it on the piano and to sing it. It had a bass-line that sounded like a horse clip-clopping along. Those were the days.
Now I'm promoting my newest book and I don't think we mention the occupation of cowboy in it once. What a shame. It's about how to find the perfect job for your personality by learning about yourself. The name is “The Career Within You.” Let me know if you'd like to review it. Cowboys march to their own drummer. They're often loners. I admire them. They have a hard life from many of our points of view, but they're independent and they've chosen it for themselves. So that's a good thing. It's heroic.
