I have a landcriuser series 100...6cyl pet 4.5 live axle Help?
It was 2nd hand when I bought it.
It had been used to get the kids to school and do the shopping in, in Sydney Australia, so lots of stop starts, and no long runs.
When it sits and idles for a few minutes it starts emmiting blue smoke from the exhaust.
The mechanic said the push-rod oil seals need replacing, which I'll get done.
My question is, is there anything I can have done to the head to increase the pulling power of the vehicle while the head is off? like valves or a grind or shave or something? Thanks in advance for any tips.

To Andy: Not a shopping trolley now. I tow a large trailor several hundred kms week. I started running nulon soon as I got it. Is extractors off the chart in expence?
To Rob: The chip thing sounds great too. Costly? Does it make the engine 'cranky'? The vehicle needs to remain reliable and pull like a trojan.

Yes you can get a mild port and polish and some material machined off the head but more would be gained from a set of extractors, full flow exhaust and possible a chip mod for your efi, however if it is being used as a shopping trolley dont waste your money. there are also many additives on the market that may help with the valve stem seals(where the oil leaks into the intake)such as Lucas or Nulon which you can get from ypour local supercheap auto or similar

ron strong, r&r automotive.they are pricy but excellent.enjoy fresno, i moved to oklahoma.love it, houses that go for a mill,out there go for quite a bit less, and its like the foothills only way greener.i do miss the dust and fog though,sigh!
