opening up the internet via explorer or mozilla is very slow when the computer has been idle overnight.?
What can i do to increase the speed? Once i've been able to open my homepage then the computer and internet works fine, i am using bt home hub
As well as the defrag and clean-up, make sure you haven't got a mountain of "temporary internet files" which should be deleted every day anyway, and then, make sure you haven't got something like AVG set to do an automatic scan each morning. My PC started to go slow and nothing showed up on the task bar (click on the clock!) but the light was on all the morning - and then just by chance I spotted a quick flash on the screen which told me that the scan was finished - and when I checked, I'd inadvertently switched it to self-scan instead of self up-date! - so it's well worth checking to see if you've got something like that going on underneath it all without you realising it.
