Golf Cart Battery Chargers
Do I need new batteries for my golf cart?
I purchased this golf cart in EXELLENT condition almost a year ago. It began not holding a charge so I unplugged the charger with plans on checking it out later. That was about a month ago. I check it out today and found that all the battery cells are bone dry. I've filled them all, plugged the charger back in. The dial on the charger is not even moving. Do I need all new batteries or if I let it sit on the charge for a few days, will it begin to recharge?

The charger actually needs the batteries to kick it on. If the batteries are completely dead then the charger will not kick on. If you connect the charger and then take a regular battery charger and connect positive to one battery and negative to another battery (positive post) then the charger will kick on after a few hours, (maybe only 15 minutes). Once the golf cart charger kicks on then simply remove the car charger and give them a full charge with only the golf cart charger

Did I damage the batteries?
I have a dexton ride on golf cart and recently attempted to charge the batteries. After 12hrs of charging there was nothing. Upon further inspection I found that the the fuses were blown. If i plugged the adapter into the charger and then attached the pos with the neg on the two batteries would this cause the fuses to blow or damage the batteries?
so why would it blow the fuse? Also would the blown fuses not allow the the batteries to charge?
The fuse is there so you dont damage anything. So most likely it blew fuse before any damage was done. Good Luck
The polarity of the charger is the same as the battery – the red lead is positive / the black lead negative.
The external current flows through the battery rather than from the battery and is stored as chemical energy in the electrolyte as it converts the sulfur, hydrogen and water back into a solution of H2SO4, or sulfuric acid.
