What is your personal Green solution with high fossil fuel prices?
I would love to hear your ideas & solution.
This is what I've done...I am in NO way bragging or saying there is anything wrong with your life choices.
First, I did a survey of our driving, I found that 82% of all our driving was trips within a 3 mile radius, grocery, pharmacy, kids school, my office etc.
So I bought 2 electric golf-carts...I also bought a solar charging system...it's a 12x12 solar panel attached to a charging wire...so I drive for free 95% of the time. I checked with local police and they don't care if I drive it on our 25 mph streets. Got full coverage insurance........easy pezzzy!
Of course we have our other car for longer trips etc., bad weather that type of thing.
We just completed our 4th month and estimated saving is $2240 on gas....and ZERO enviromental impact. By March 2009 it will more than pay for the cart investment.

It's nice to conserve energy and save money, but it won't solve the problem for the future.
The best solution is to remove the obstacles that stop us from drilling domestically for the billions of barrels we have in the US.
That would lower the prices very quickly, but the democrats would never let us be energy independent. They like to see us suffer.

Gold carts use batteries to charge the electrical system of the engine. This could be charged using an alternator or charged using solar system. The goal is to have strongly charged batteries that will not make the cart to run out of power midway between the golf courses.
A good golf cart charger should use limited energy to charge alternative power sources. This is also referred to as an energy efficient charger. The most popular include the solar chargers which use renewable energy. The solar charges are also preferred because they conserve the environment. They do not have waste products that are emitted into the environment as is the case with fossil fuel.
When you have acquired the effective and energy efficient charger, the next step is to ensure that you know how to operate it. In most cases, an operational manual will be provided. It is important to test if the golf cart charger is working the first instances. If it is not, then you have the option of sending it back to the dealer. This is however only possible where a warranty was provided. It is therefore important that you ensure that a warranty period that is long enough accompanies every purchase of golf cart charger.
There are several errors that may prevent a functional one from operating, lets discuss a few:
Check out if the voltage input is what is recommended by the manufacture. This may depend with state to state or country to country. Be sure not to plug a charger of 110 volts input into a 210 volts input. This will be costly mistake since it may blow up the golf cart charger and you will not be compensated by the insurance company. This action would be considered an act of negligence on the part of the user; he or she cannot be compensated.
Assuming the batteries are fully charged, it is recommended that remove the batteries off the golf cart charger to test whether it is passing electric power. This will also isolate the charger from other sources of energy and through use of the indicator, one would detect whether it is functional or not.
To be sure, take the OHM-Meter reader to determine whether the current is flowing through the charger. If not, do send it back to the dealer. Do not attempt to open the inside part of the golf cart charger if you not authorized agent.
