Door Shock
What causes some people to get an electric shock by opening a door for example?
Some people tend to get a sort of electric shock when they touch something of metal, like a doorknob, refrigerator...etc. And it is something constant. With rubber shoes on or off, it is the same while it doesn't happen to other people. Can someone please explain this?
This happens because our bodies are a good source of charges, both negative and positive. Our bodies are neutral but have a large supply of charges. So when you touch a metallic substance, the negative charges(electrons) on it move to your body to joing the positive charges you have. Or if the metal is slightly charged, let's say positively, electrons(negative charges) move from your body to the object. Only negative charges(electrons) move, positive charges do not.
Our bodies are like grounding because they are neutral, so charges flow in and out of it, and that's why you get the shock because you feel the flow of the charges(negative ones) through you body, whether in or out, you still feel a shock.
