why does the rear wheel drum on my '92 subaru loyale keep getting lose?
I just put a new a new drum and axle nut on it and it is still happening. According to the repair manual, it is not missing any parts. I tighten the axle nut as much as possible. The splines on the previous drum were worn, therefore it was loose on the spindle and wobbled. I figured a new drum would fix it. I put it on and it was a perfect fit with no play, then tightened down the axle nut as tight as possible. I drove maybe 25 miles and the drum is lose again. Whats the deal?
it is 4wd version
check the boolts and threads iin the axle housing if they are getting bad they will losen up. u might want to try a dab of loc tite on the threads this has helped me in the past.

- Check the Charging system - There should be a slight charge shown on the ammeter when the engine is running and a change in the charging level when the lights are turned on.
